Beautiful Day * Stamping Challenge * PageMaps Sketch

Hi! Today is the reveal of a new challenge at Scrapbookers Anonymous! This time, we request to look for your stamps. We want you to take your stamps, create a background using your stamps and at least three embellishments with it!

I admit that I have several stamp sets in my stash and I just ignore them. I buy them with the best intentions to learn new techniques and use them. But then, I procrastinate and forget them. Mostly because, I am not very confidence in my stamping skills and/or just to lazy to use them.

I am not sure if you are like me, surely not, so I decided to share a little bit about my process on how I tackled this stamping challenge!

This layout features a photo of my son with the blue sky at the background and a olive polo shirt as the predominant colors. So the Little Yellow Bicycle was the perfect choice for this page.

Second, I selected a stamp set! I chose October Afternoon, Daydream stamp set and a piece of 12X12 light blue cardstock. If you see this stamp set have a one relatively big image, one journaling image, several small images and three sentiments (Hint: one of them I used for my title).

Since I decided to work with a blue / green scheme, I created the blue background with the damask image from the OA stamp set.

I love my Scor-Pal. I use it as a work-place for all my layouts. I like that it provides a border to align a ruler and it works as a base to attach patterned papers at the background borders.
Then I stamped hearts and small flowers using blue ink on patterned paper. I stamped the journaling image in a piece of embellishment's packaging using brown ink.
After, I fussy cut all the images, then I work in my page design. I used the sketch from ACOT Sketch Contest at Page Maps.

I made sure that I had at least three embellishments made from stamps: 1) hearts; 2) small flowers; 3) the journaling note. The title was created with one of the sentiments from this same stamp set.

My phone is part of my creative process too. I like to plan and rearrange all the embellishments, then to take photos with the phone to check for balance. I love its wide-angle lens. I start to glue everything after I feel satisfied with the design.

This is a close-up from one of the embellishment cluster. More over, I applied more flowers to the background page to fill the empty spaces.
I layered several stamped images for the flower cluster located at the top-right section from my photo.
I applied brown dimensional paint at the stamped flowers (stamped in green patterned paper). The heart stamped images were bordered with a brown marker. The flowers center dots were created with Ranger Dimensional Paint in denim. The title "Beautiful Day" belongs to the stamp set and it was created with brown ink.

Since I met the stamped embellishments challenge's requirement, then I felt free to include whatever embellishments I had that fancy me!! The green leaves are chipboard stickers from Little Yellow Bicycle from the Twig collection.

This is another section from the layout. Except for the hearts which were stamped, all the embellishments are from Little Yellow Bicycle "Twig" collection.

Hope you can play with us at this challenge and that this simple tutorial has inspired you to use your stamp sets. Of course, this is just one approach to tackle this stamping challenge. You should see, what the other designers did!. They always amaze me with their creations.

Remember, you have until the end of may to do this challenge.

There are also some changes at Scrapbookers Anonymous. First the DT was extended so head on over to see all the amazing projects.

Second, we are challenged now to do cards too with our scraps related to the month's challenge. The card with this stamp challenge will be revealed on May 15th. So you can have two chances to participate in the random drawing for the monthly prize by doing a layout and a card. More ways to use your stash! How awesome is that!!!

Till next time.:)
