"Sekhmet" Scrapbook Layout

This weekend Scrapbook Challenges is celebrating their first birthday at their ning site. There is also a blog hop which started on October 29, 2010 and finish on November 1, 2010, so there is still time to participate!!

The blog hop starts at the blog from Pamela Young. The blog hops shows the layouts made by SC Design team with this fabulous sketch!!

After visiting all the blogs from the Design Team, you can participate in the blog hop, too, by doing a layout with the sketch!. Just as I am doing!! The link is here, to participate in the SC members blog hop!!

There are very good prizes in addition to getting inspired with the very beautiful work from the Design Team at Scrapbook Challenges.

This was a 30 minutes layout for me. When I saw the sketch, I decided to use the Lily Bee Design Catching Fall collection diecuts. The circle and the scallop square are just die cuts!Die Cut Frames 12X12 Catching Fall Paper (Lilly Bee Design)

I wanted to scrap more photos from our visit to the Louvre museum on June 6, 2009. On the photo is my Dear Husband and Diego near a statue from goddess Sekhmet. She is the warrior goddess from Upper Egypt. in egyptian mythology. She is depicted as a lioness.

Hope that you enjoyed my take on the sketch!! Looking forward to blog hop during the weekend and monday, too!!

Happy weekend!

"at the Hammock" * Sketchabilities #34

Hi! Happy Saturday!! Wishing everyone a good weekend! I am very happy because today is reveal day at Sketchabilities. Here is Sketch #34 created by the very talented Karan Gerber

Love that you can include three photos in this sketch! And it provides so much details, that if you follow through, with all the paper layering specified, everything you creates will be fabulous!!!

In addition, in order to qualify for a scrapkit worth $35.00 from Scrapshotz, you will need to complete a layout using sketch #33 or sketch #34 and link your layout using Mr... Linky. You have until November 10 to complete this challenge!

Here is my take on the sketch!! I am not kidding every layout I had done from Karan is one of my favorites! Like this one!!

Supplies are from My Scrapbook Nook kit club, Lilybee Designs Catching Fall collection, I had a lot of fun layering the Basic Grey flowers, Jillibean Soup chipboard and twine!

Here there is some close-up photos!!!
The big brown flower is part of the Jillibean Soup packaging! The fabric flowers are from Basic Grey. I added patterned paper and buttons to the Jillibean Soup chipboard flowers! The red letters are from Basic Grey Max & whiskers! Love this letter size.

This is the top portion of the layout! I added Jenni Bowlin tickets, and Stickles (cinammon color) to create the eye for the Jillibean Soup chipboard bird. The button is from my stash!

This is Diego at the hammock on the balcony of Hacienda Gripinas in Jayuya, Puerto Rico. This is a small town in the mountains, therefore is a little bit colder than in the coast. That is why, Diego has this Gymboree sweater! Photos are from November, 2009. If you come to Puerto Rico, and want to know the history of my country, this beautiful town is the place to go!! It is so beautiful, I admit that I am a mountain girl!! Please, feel free to click the links provided, if you want to know more about Jayuya!!!

Well, this is all from me, please check what the other designers did with this sketch!! There are many halloween, fall, and beautiful layouts to get inspired!!

Happy Scrapping!
Wishing everyone a safe and fun Halloween day!

"Together" Scrapbook Layout

Hi! Today, I am sharing a layout from the last time we celebrated my grandmothers birthday on March, 2010. On the photo, there is my grandmother, my two sisters and me.

I created this layout following sketch from Julie Bonner, for the Big Sketch Contest at My Creative Scrapbook. Supplies are from Crate Paper, Restoration Collection, from The Scrap-Room Kit Club

This time, I remembered to take close-up photos from the layout details. I created flowers from a EK Success flower punch. I glued the pearls from Prima Marketing Inc. I added brown stickles to the blue butterfly from American Crafts.

This metal rose came from The Scrap-Room kit club kit. I used a Stampin' Up border punch.
Another close-up showing the layering of papers.
The title is from American Crafts Dear Lizzy Thickers. I know that is a little common, but one of the most difficult things to me is coming with innovative titles. Anyway, I am so happy and grateful, to see every photo of my sisters and grandma together.
Love this button brad from Crate Paper, Restoration Collection! The flower was created with a flower punch from patterned paper.
This is all for today! Thanks for stopping by!
Good evening!

Basic Grey Wander & The Paper Variety Week 7

Hi! Happy Wednesday! And Wednesday means that a new challenge reveals at The Paper Variety!!!
This week we have a photo inspiration challenge.
And here is the fabulous prize from Apron Strings for the winner which will be selected randomly after Tuesday, November 2, 2010 12:00 PM ET. Love this Smaller than a Breadbox kit valued at $19 and which it is already SOLD OUT!!! Like it very much Bo Bunny Whooligans and Studio Calico collections!!

I loved this inspiration picture. I liked both the rectangular patterns and the distressed colors. I already knew this inspirational photo was perfect for the photo taken from us at Tutankhamen: The Exhibition. We went there on October 2, 2010. The exhibition opened on September 2010 and it will be open until March, 2011. The exhibition contains replicas from some of the ancient treasures from Tutankhamen. It is very educational and a good way to get to know better the history of Egypt. My sons enjoyed very much this exhibition.

I used Basic Grey Wander Collection. Loved the patterns, and the distressed colors, which I found out very similar to the inspirational photo. I did a "travel layout", but this inspirational photo is great to scrap all the beautiful Fall season pictures.

So I cannot wait to see what you create!! Wishing everyone a happy end of the week! And please remember, that you have until sunday afternoon (October 31, 2010) for the chance to be on the spotlight at The Paper Variety!! Cool!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Mona Lisa Sunday

Hi! Happy Tuesday! Today I am sharing a layout I created for a weekend challenge at Paper Posies. The challenge consisted on creating a layout according to a sketch from the amazing Julie Bonner. I chose to scrap these photos from our attempt to take a decent photo of Mona Lisa.

We went to the Louvre museum on the first sunday of the month (June 6, 2009), when the entrance is free, therefore, the museum was full of people. There was so many people taking photos to this piece of art, that was almost impossible to take a decent photo. But at least, we documented our attempt taking by taking these photos. So happy to add another layout to the Paris album!!!

Supplies are from Crate Paper, Restoration collection. The alphabet is from Basic Grey Wander Collection. The chipboard is from Lil Davis Design and it was painted with Copics.

Well, see you tomorrow, with the next reveal from The Paper Variety online challenge!!!
Here is a small sneak of the project, I submitted to the next challenge!! I am almost sure, you will get very inspired!!!

"Caguas Botanical Garden" Scrapbook Layout

Hi! Happy Friday! Wishing everyone a good weekend! So happy I could finish this page today. I wanted to do a Fall page with this page kit from The Scrap-Room Kit Club. And finally, I did it!! The papers and the big blue flower is from Bella BLVD. The papers are from One Fall Day collection.

I did a little misting with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Gumdrop, just to add that small touch! In addition, I used my new EK Success Punch, which is the orange column with the small squares attached on top of the olive green paper strip. The cute yellow/orange sun is from American Crafts Frisbee line. I followed the sketch from Sketchy Thursdays November GDT challenge. This is my first time participating in Sketchy Thursday GDT, so I am just curious!!! I really loved this sketch!!

This top photo shows Diego holding a passion fruit from Caguas Botanical Garden, on the fall season of 2008. The garden is situated in the remains of a former sugar mill in the town of Caguas, Puerto Rico. The rest of the two photos are the remains of a sugar mill, and the foundations of the sugar factory.

Thanks for reading me!

"with Dino" Scrapbook Layout

Hi! This is my third post of the day! But, I promise, there will be not anymore until next week! Today, it was Sketchabilities Sketch #33 reveal.  The layout I did for today's reveal Saint Remi Basilica scrapbook layout was created several weeks ago and I was just itching to share.

My second post for the day was the Design Team announcement from Scrapbookers-Anonymous which is an opportunity which I am very excited.

Last, I am sharing the layout I created last night. I used Sketch 85 from The Scrappiest. The supplies are from American Crafts City Park. They are part of a page kit from The Scrap-Room Kit Club. The only items that did not came with the kit are the title (Echo Park Sweet Summertime) and the foam leaf, which is from American Crafts. The turquoise scallop border sticker is from Echo Park Sweet Summertime too. I used stickles to border the leaf. The circle frame was made with Rock Creek Gardens patterned paper.
Rock Creek Gardens Glitter 12X12 City Park Collection Paper (American Crafts)
And yes! I spent a lot of time using my scissors. It was difficult to me doing clean cuts. Next time, I will get a punch, then to punch circles. Then do the frame which is approximately 8 inches X 10 inches. But what I can say, practice makes the perfection! I used a lot of pop-dots too. Anyhow, I really like this layout very much!!

This layout shows my two kids and me waiting to enter Rio Camuy's Caves. From the photos, you can see my kids were completely bored and very excited to enter the caves. To complete the boredom, this dino machine had a malfunction, so they were not able to entertain themselves. What mom is going to do? Take photos and smile!!!!!!! (Photo date: November 27, 2009).

I am including a photo of what we saw after the waiting of more or less of 30 minutes.

Courtesy: Visit the Coqui
Absolutely, it was worth the wait! We were amaze about the beauty of this marvelous creation from nature. The Rio Camuy is the world's third largest subterranean river. Yes! and it is located in my beautiful and so little island of Puerto Rico!

Wishing everyone a happy weekend! I will made the respective changes in my blog side bar during this weekend too! I found it to messy and definitely need an update!

Thanks for reading me! and for everyone that stopped by and took the time to make comments! A BIG THANK YOU! I really appreciate it! Definitely will blog hop this weekend too!

Scrapbookers- Anonymous

Today, I am very happy to share that I am part of Scrapbookers-Anonymous! Love the objective of this relatively new challenge site, which is all about to use your supplies. Yesterday was the Design Team announcement! I was very happy to get to know, the other talented designers. Thanks Theresa and Lea for this wonderful opportunity!!
Scrapbookers-Anonymous is all about recipes challenges. The challenge reveal is on the first day of the month, and then you have all the month to submit your creation, with the due date on the last day of the current month.

Currently, is the October's Challenge. No sketch required, but this month's challenge is to use a minimum of 3 different patterned papers from 3 different manufacturers. This must be a newly created layout. The older the paper, the better. Please remember, this is all about digging into the depths of our stash. Please click here, for details about the challenge! I participated in this challenge already, previous being chosen for the DT. You can see what I created at this post!

The goodies for October are these 6" X 6" packs of Basic grey paper.

So all you need to do is to link your layout at Mr. Linky before 9:00 pm ET on October 31.

What do you think? Great!!! Looking forward to see what you create!

"Saint Remi Basilica" Scrapbook Layout

Hi! Happy Friday everyone! Today I am very excited to share my first layout as a Designer for Sketchabilities sketch site. I used their sketches previously, since they are so awesome!! But this layout is my first one as part of the Design Team. Here is sketch #33.

This sketch is so lovely, providing the chance to include 4 photos in one layout. The supplies that I used for my layout are from My Mind's Eye So Sophie, Savvy in Love collection. I created the circle with the Cricut Expression and it measures 8". The scalloped border was made using fold punched circles. The green flourish is from patterned paper cut with Sizzix Flourish #2. The only item in this layout not from My Mind's Eye are the green alphabet letters, which are from American Crafts.

The photos shows my Dear Husband and Luis (my oldest son) at the front of Saint Remi Basilica. You can see, that Luis is at this stage of making funny faces. This abbey is located in Reims, France, and it was founded in the sixth century. It was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site on 1991. The photos were taken on June 12, 2009.

Now Sketchablities have sponsors. So, if you submit a project on October for Sketchabilities or Cardabilities, you will have the chance to win a kit from Scrap Shotz. Nice! You have until November 10, 2010 to submit your project (Sketch #33 or Sketch #34) for the chance to win a kit worth $35 from ScrapShotz!

Thanks for stopping by! Wishing everyone a happy weekend!

Scrap Shotz is one of Canada's oldest and most established online stores. They are based out of NW Calgary and they ship all over Canada and US.

I am submitting this layout to the Moxie Fab World Perfectly Placed Pleats Challenge.

"con Jafar" Scrapbook Layout

Hi! Wishing anyone a good and productive day!

Today, I am sharing a layout from Creative Scrapper sketch #125
I used Jillibean Soup, Pasta Fagioli collection. Love very much the Red Script Stars Canvas Shape. I added paper ribbon doilies tape from Basic Grey oliver collection. The alphabets are from American Crafts and Jenni Bowlin.

Diego was taken this photo with Jafar, when we went to EuroDisney. He was not very comfortable, staying near this character. At least, he accepted to be photographed!!

That is everything for today!
I will see you tomorrow with the first reveal at Sketchabilities Sketch Blog from the new design team!

A Friendly Card from The Paper Variety

Hi! Happy Wednesday! So happy that we are in the middle of the week! This year is going so fast. Here in Puerto Rico, we are still experiencing hot weather! The highest temperature yesterday was 86F, but it feels like in the 90F with the humidity. uggh!!! Looking forward for November!!! November is the true Fall season for us!! I do not know why, but temperatures change significantly after Halloween day!! Hoping that this first week of november brings temperatures no higher than 83F, like past years!!

So Fall means Card Making Season!!! And The Paper Variety wants to celebrate it in style!
Challenge Week #5 is all about cards and we at The Paper Variety want to provide you a beautiful card sketch!! We want you to stay ahead with your holiday's cards!!

Here is the card sketch:
And here is my take on this card sketch!!
I substituted the scallop circle with the Top Note die. All supplies are from Stampin' UP! Including the Sizzix Bigz Top Note die, the patterned papers, and the sticker. The sentiment is from set "Friendly Flowers". The leaf is from a SU! Simply Scrappin' kit. Easy!!!

Well this was my interpretation of the sketch, but you should see, what my friends from The Paper Variety did with this sketch! This sketch was rotated and interpreted on many beautiful ways. You should see by yourself!

This week's prize features this 4X6 clear stamps set from Lawn Fawn Critter by the Sea, which is valued at $15. Love the sentiments "just wavin' hello"! And what do you think of the octopus. For me it is too cute!! This stamp set would be perfect for me to practice my coloring with the COPICs. For ideas, to use this stamp set, you can go directly to Lawn Fawn blog ideas "Critters by the Sea".
To participate in The Paper Variety Week #5 Challenge, please use this sketch to create your card or any project inspired in the sketch! Yes, it can be also a layout!!

Please, upload your project here. All projects must be uploaded before Tuesday, October 19, 2010, to be eligible for this awesome Lawn Fawn stamp set. Cannot wait to see what you create!! Try to add your project before sunday, if you had like the chance to be chosen for a submission spotlight!

See you soon!

"The Good Life" Scrapbook Layout

My sons really live the good life! Here, you can see Luis at his grandpa's pool. He loves to visit his grandparents. That day was a Puerto Rico's holiday celebrated on March 22, 2010. So there was no class, and I still remember the unwelcome feeling of summer's weather not so typical on march. So, a swimming pool was really a necessity!

This layout follows sketch from Liz Qualman. It has only patterned paper (6 patterns) and three different manufacturers (Sassafras Lass Indie Girl, Echo Park Paper and Autumn Leaves MOD). The last scrapbook paper's column is from Autumn Leaves MOD, which is discontinued. The alphabet is from a fall line from Sassafras Last and the rest of the stickers are from Echo Paper, Summertime collection.

I submitted this layout to several challenges: 1) Scrapbookers-Anonymous Challenge Blog,
2) Scrapbook.com Use your Supplies Challenge Forum (Week 1) and
And yes, you read very well!!! What a strange challenge combination: two peas with SB.com!

Love the objective of Scrapbookers-Anonymous Challenge site. They want people to use old stash in their challenges. I still have so many old papers manufactured previous 2005!! Scenic Route, Creative Imaginations, 7 gypsies, Jenni Bowling, the first release from Cosmo Cricket. So beautiful! Before, I felt anxiety to use them, since I was not sure, if I was able to do them justice!! And now, I have a very big fear to use them, I really very interested to know if they appreciated in value. Now, I realize that I am a scrapbook paper collector! Love patterned paper, for its beauty, for its art!! For the very same reason people collects stamps, figurines, baseball cards, etc.

Tomorrow Tuesday at noon is due The Paper Variety Challenge #4, please do not miss the chance to randomly win a kit from Bo Bunny Winter Joy!! Perfect to document snow pictures!!

Thanks for reading me!! So please, remember to stop here, by this Wednesday, for the next The Paper Variety challenge reveal!! I promise, I will change seasons, no more summer. I am itching to show you, what I did with pattern papers perfect for the Fall season!

Beach Scrapbook Layout

Hi! Happy Saturday! This week, I created a beach scrapbook layout, since I wanted to use this beautiful page kit from The Scrap-Room Kit Club, October Afternoon Seaside.

Here, there are my boys at Isla Verde Beach, Puerto Rico, in the christmas season. Photo was taken on December 19, 2008. The water is a little rough, but I really enjoy it the beach more than in summer season, since the weather is cool, the breeze is more refreshing, and there is more peaceful scenery.

This scrapbook layout was created according to Sketch #32 from Sketchabilities. The sketch was created by Amy Oxford. This challenge's sketch is due on October 14, 2010. Therefore, there are plenty of time to participate!!

In addition, I submitted it to The Scrap-Room Kit Club, Week #40 Challenge. The challenge consists to use pop-dots in any part of your layout. I used pop-dots in the ivory cardstock and in the wave piece to hide the Fancy Pants boat pin.

This layout meets the requirements from TSR Mod Squad: October Week 1 Challenge, which is a recipe. For more details, please visit the The Scrap-Room Kit Club Forum. These ladies are doing an awesome job to inspire kit members to use their scrapbook supplies.

Also, I submitting this layout to Design Dollies color challenge: Red, Blue, Ivory, Brown.

And that it is all. Love to combine challenges, as I did with this layout!
Wish everyone a happy weekend!!

Thanks for reading me and stopping by!! And for all the people that had taken the time to comment about my work!! Love it! Thanks very much! I really appreciate it!

Edit (October, 14, 2010): I am editing this post to document that yesterday, I found out that October Afternoon put in the spotlight this layout in their Facebook page on October 10. They noticed from my upload at my gallery at Scrapbook.com. This was a very nice surprise, even more to see all the people that liked my page. Thank you!

"B is for Butterfly" Scrapbook Layout

Hi! Happy Friday!
Today, I am sharing this layout, which I did after "at the Butterfly Conservatory" scrapbook layout. The photo shows one beautiful tropical butterfly. The other photo shows butterflies, eating or drinking. I do not remember, really. Just remember, they enjoyed to stay in these moist bright blue's sponges.

I submitted this layout to Scrap Attack {SAS}sy Crate Contest last weekend, which consisted to create a layout with at least 75% Crate products. I had the chance to get an extra entry, if the items chosen spell CRATE. In this case: C= Cardstock, R= Rick Rack, A = Alphabet letter, T= Twine, E = Embellishment. This layout has five different collections from Crate Paper: Brook (patterned paper), Lillian (yellow diecut), Lemon Grass (title & bottom scallop border), Paper Doll (top scallop border) and Restoration (brad & chipboard embellishment). The round corks are from Pink Paislee 365 degrees.

I had a lot of fun doing this layout!! My love for Crate Paper is increasing. The last four layouts, I created are mostly from Crate Paper supplies. Next week, SAS will announce the random winner. Hoping it is me, since my CRATE supplies were almost depleted. LOL!

Tomorrow is World Card Making Day!! There is a lot of very cool and interesting activities. However, this time, I  am very happy to say, that my DH is free from university classes this weekend. We are planning a family date!! I am very happy about this!! So, I will have a lot of sharing time together and photo opportunities.

I am aware, that I must be creative with my photos, so I will be able to use the so many beautiful fall collections. The Fall season is something, I will like to experiment some day!! Fall season in Puerto Rico, means the celebration of America's Discovery, Puerto Rico's Discovery and the appreciation of art created by Puerto Rican's artisans.

Well, see you soon! Thanks for reading me and stopping by! And for each person, participating in all the weekend card making activity, please enjoy for me!!! And best of luck!! Wishing everyone to get some fabulous prize!!

Good Night!
