The Paper Variety Challenge * Week 3

Hi! Happy Wednesday! Today is the reveal for The Paper Variety Challenge * Week 3.
The challenge consists of creating a project: layout, card or altered project with any of the following items, birds, butterflies, kite, airplane, rocket, sun, moon, stars. In summary anything that can fly or it is located in the sky.

Here is my take.

I chose the butterfly theme. I had these photos from January, 2009, which I still had not touch it.
Here is my boy Luis, proudly posing with a butterfly on his sweater. I was a happy camper at the butterfly conservatory, located at the American Museum of Natural History at NYC. It was very easy to practice the macro setting with the camera, due to the huge amount of butterflies. I loved the experience!! I strongly recommend it!

The butterfly at the left is an Unity Stamp from Donna Downey, "Where You Are", I colored with Copics, Y13, YG17 and BG13. The papers are from Crate Paper: Brook Collection. The green paper ribbon is from Basic grey ribbon doilies. Other embellishment stickers are from Basic Grey Origins.

Now, please go to The Paper Variety, to see the beautiful samples Design Team A members created with this challenge.

You have until Tuesday, October 5, 2010; 12 P.M. ET to submit your project, here. Please remember, it can be a card, layout, or paper craft item, with butterflies, moon, stars, just anything that can fly or it is in the sky. I cannot wait to see your beautiful creations!

The winner, selected randomly will get this beautiful kit from Cosmo Cricket, "Togetherness", provided from our sponsor this week The Scrapbooking Cottage!

Thanks for stopping by!

"Everything Egypt" Scrapbook Layout

This is my take for the sketch #31 from Sketchabilities.

I chose to scrap some photos from last Christmas (2009). Luis loves everything about Egypt. His request to Santa was the Playmobil Egypt play set. He really played a lot this year with the pyramid and figurines.

The patterned papers are from Crate Paper Restoration collection. The alphabet is from Basic Grey Wander. The flower is from Prima Marketing Inc. I was very happy to document these memories about my son through photos.

Happy Scrappin'

I was featured at Craft Gossip * Cutie Pie Scrapbook Layout

Hi! Happy Tuesday!!!!! Yesterday, September 27, 2010, I was featured at Craft Gossip!!!!! You can see here!!!! This is a great place to get inspiration and learn for every type of craft!!!

Today, I am sharing the layout, "Cutie Pie", which I submitted to Crate Paper blog, for September sketch. I used the collection "Season". The photo shows Diego and me, on June 21, 2009. I love when he does this funny faces!!

See you tomorrow!!!! with The Paper Variety Challenge 3!!!!!!!!!

"Wine Barrels" Scrapbook Layout

Hi! Happy Monday! Today, I am sharing another layout from our visit to a champagne tour at Veuve Clicquot cellars. Here is Luis in front of the wine or champagne barrels. Each barrel has a name and date, ie, Vertus 1823, Bouzy 1824, etc. The name indicates the location's name from the grape's vineyard. These barrels are not empty, and from the date listed, I would not dare to drink what it is inside. The vineyard of Bouzy is recognized for the quality of her soil. Bouzy became really famous during the court of Louis XIV at Versailles! Interesting fact!

About this layout, after I complete it and post it at The Scrap-Room Blog Weekly Challenge #37, and The Color Room Palette #24, I was not completely satisfied. It seemed too dark for me. I removed the background and put it at another background paper more similar to ivory.
But, I really do not prefer the second layout, since the first one, reminds me more about the cellars, which are very dark. Really, the tour is very dark, and you walk using flashlights only, since cellars are underground.

So, I post both of them here, and now, you know more about my process. I enjoy playing and changing elements here and there, until I am satisfied. Other times, I just move on to the next project. This is what it is!!

The sketch is from Julie Bonner. The supplies are from Pink Paislee Queen Bee collection and Basic Grey Origins collection.

Please, remember, there is still time to play at The Paper Variety, Challenge No. 2. The due date is tomorrow Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 12 Noon (ET). For the chance to win an August kit from The Treasure Box Club. These "Classical Beauty kit is valued at $33.95. Nice!!!!!!

See you, tomorrow!

"My Boys" Scrapbook Layout

Hi! Happy Saturday! This week, Simply Scrapping Crafts, have the following palette, with the added twist to scrap about "all boys". This challenge belongs to the Color Combo group, which I had the honor to participate as a Guest Designer on September.
I chose a page kit with Collage Press, "Jackson Lodge" paper collection, the title was created with a Heidi Swapp alphabet mask, and misted with Tattered Angels glimmer mist "Crushed Shells.

The other embellishments are from Little Yellow Bicycle (blue bracket), Basic Grey (orange arrow), Making Memories (felt). I love color challenges, since I like to combine old supplies with new ones, whenever possible, like here.

The photos show my two sons, at my grandma's birthday party on March 28, 2010. We were celebrating her birthday at her house.

There is still time to participate in this Color Combo challenge. The due date is September 30, 2010 at 11:59 P.M. I would love to see you there!!

Good evening!

Design Team B did a fabulous job with this recipe challenge! I played too, even I belong to Team A! Here is what I did!

For B, I used a Stampin' Up! border punch, and also cut one of the Crate patterned papers, to get the pink scallop design. For C, I chose the movie "No Reservations", from Catherine Zeta Jones. Love this movie!!
No Reservations
The journaling says: On our summer vacations (2009), I had no reservations, when we stopped at the "Boulangerie" I tasted everything, and ate everything. Then, I had to sweat the gain!!! : Photo date: June 3, 2009.

Baby Scrapbook Layout * The Girl's Paperie Class

Hi! Happy Tuesday! If you want to know, how much I am behind. Here is the answer!!! I am showing two scrapbook layouts from the date I was born in September. I feel grateful, to have so much photo as a baby!! These layouts were designed by The Girl's Paperie by Margie. I took this class at the Puerto Rico Scrapbook Event 2010, by Margie Romney-Aslett herself. She is an amazing teacher. The supplies are from the "Paper Girl" collection!!

This is the second page. This is supposed to be a two -page layout. But, both pages, can stand alone by themselves. The photos are the original ones!

That is all for today! Pretty soon need to get my kids from school!

Birthday Card

Today, we went to a birthday party for a beautiful 4th year old girl. This is the birthday card, I did this morning. Doing cards is not my strength, and to photograph them, it is even more challenging!! But, here we go! One of my personal goals this coming month, is to do more cards!!

I created this card according to sketch #11 from Cardabilities; color challenge and recipe element from Design Dollies. The patterned papers are from Stampin' Up! (real red, pumpkin pie, brilliant blue (retired). The cardstock is Stampin' Up! (wild wasabi). The stamp is from Stampin' Up! "Birthday Whimsy, set 111401.

That is all for today! Good night!

"Casa Jibara" Scrapbook Layout * Simply Scrapping Crafts

I was honored to be chosen selected as a Guest Designer for the month of September at the Color Combo group at Simply Scrapping Crafts. This is a very welcoming and talented community with loads of inspiration.

They have several weekly challenges, classes, and tutorials. This was the layout, I did for the challenge:

This is the color challenge prompt:
The challenge required to create a card or layout using the above colors, in addition to think about your Autumn traditions. We do not experiment the change of seasons in Puerto Rico. But in October and November, we celebrate the discovery of America and the discovery of Puerto Rico on 1493, respectively. In addition the Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 to October 15.

On October 19, 2008, we did a day trip to Jardin Botanico de Caguas. The photos above shows "Casa Jibara", which is a reproduction of an old country house and kitchen garden, from people living previous the '50s decade. Love the "fall season", since on this time of the year, we remember and celebrate our culture and traditions.

For this layout, I used patterned papers from Jillibean Soup, "Old World Cabbage Stew" collection. I added the Tim Holtz "Hope" ticket, Sassafras lass chipboard, the card box green letters are from Jillibean Soup too. The journaling card is from Jenni Bowlin.

I would love to see your take in this beautiful color combo challenge!!! The due date is September 30, at 11:59 PM, so you have plenty of time to submit your project! There will be a monthly RAK for the winner, selected randomly!! Hope to see you there!!

And here is my take for the sketch!! I made this layout using Sassafras Lass Indie Girl collection. The scallops borders are cut from American Crafts Heat Wave Collection. Loved how easy is to use this fabulous papers with the sketch. The four squares above the photos are 2" X 2". The squares at the sides are 4.5" length. This is a great way to use those paper scraps!!

The picture shows my family at Sea World, Orlando, FL, feeding the dolphins. The photo was taken by Sea World Photography. Normally, I do not buy photos at theme parks, but this was very special for me, since it perfectly reflects the excitement we had as family, meeting the dolphins. Can you see me with the camera??!!!

"Friends..." Scrapbook Layout

Hi! Just recovering from the holiday weekend. We said good bye, in style, to this summer, by going to the beach, on saturday, sunday, and monday. I had a very good time with my family!!! Now, doing the laundry, and catching-up with stuff!

Today, I am a sharing a layout, I did on Friday, afternoon, from The Scrap-Room Weekly Challenge Week #35. The challenge consisted on scrap-lifting a layout by one of their talented DT members Jenny Moore. So, this was my take on the sketch!! I used a page kit from The Scrap-Room Club, Cosmo Cricket "The boy friend" collection, I added a Journaling sticker from Jenni-Bowlin "Play". In addition: I used two punches from Stampin' Up!. One was to do the tags, and the other punch was to do the "notebook borders". Loved to use the patterned paper with the paper airplanes, since it is associated with boredom.

Friends, don't let friends do things alone, shows my two kids doing funny faces, while waiting for the start of the champagne guided tour.  The little things they do, just to combat boredom, and to please their parents!! Photos date: June 13, 2009.
