My reading list for the next decade...

These days, I completed reading the historical fiction novel War and Peace from Leo Tolstoy. This novel's setting is in Russia at the beginning of the 19th Century, and it is about the life experiences of those who lived before, during and after the Napoleonic Wars. I tried to read War and Peace in High School, however, I was put off by the huge amount of characters introduced at the beginning of the novel. Reading this novel, was one of my life's goals.

I started reading it on January 2010, taking me four months to complete it. I loved this novel, just that I am really a slow reader. Through reading it, I saw the following movies rented from Netflix: War and Peace (1956 film) with Audrey Hepburn and Henry Fonda. Also, I saw the television serial based novel from BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) War and Peace (1972) with Anthony Hopkins. I loved this opportunity to learn history from the Napoleonic era, to look in the maps and wikipedia about the cities of Vilna, St Petersburgo, Moscow. I just want to go to Russia, right now, so I can imagine Pierre and Natasha Rostov living at those places.

Newsweek in 2009 ranked War and Peace top of its list of Top 100 Books of 2009. Here is the list:
Pure coincidence, was finding this list, after starting to read this novel. Now, I want to read all those one-hundred (100) classics. I want to complete reading them on 10 years. Therefore, on 2010, I want to read the first ten books!!!

1. War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy

2. 1984 by George Orwell

3. Ulysses by James Joyce

4. Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov

5. The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner

6. Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison

7. To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf

8. The Illiad and the Odyssey by Homer

9. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

10. The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri

Next is 1984???? or Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen??? Well, I will check in Amazon, and let it the book's price and my mood to decide.
