Happy Birthday with Skype

This post was edited on October, 2010 to include this layout. Supplies are from Theresa Collins, Celebrate Collection. Sketch is from Julie Bonner. Layout was submitted to The Scrap-Room Kit Club Weekly Challenge #41.

Last month, we begun using SKYPE to communicate with my DH family that lives in South Jersey. We connected last week for my son's 6th birthday.

I want share some photos. Sorry in advance for the really bad photo quality. The photos are so bad that, they really are not editable. However, I love them very much for the memories they represent. Please enjoy!!!

Singing Happy Birthday, my father and mother's in law can be seen in the computer's screen. We are in the front of the computer. We can be seen at the mirror's image.

Another shot... Love my son's smile.

My father and my father's in law talking about the Yankees vs the Phillies and the local politics, as usual. Seeing them talking and sharing makes me happy.

By the way, the cake was vainilla ice cream with vainilla cake from my favorite place's Maggie Moos. Delicious!!!!!!!

Enjoy, and thanks very much for reading me, I really appreciate!!!

Summer Vacation and other things...

Wow! Two weeks since I wrote my last post. It was not until yesterday, when I was able to create one simple layout. So, if you ask what has kept me so busy???. It was the following:
  • Tax season, open education IRA, get all the paperwork, and sending it to the Treasury Department.
  • Next was selling on Ebay. Since the beginning of April, I started selling on EBAY, with the intention to do a sever spring cleaning, and eliminating house clutter. It was better than I expected, as of today I had already sold more than 20 items on Ebay, which range from scrapbooking books, stamps, figurines, more books etc. My best seller item was three DOMINO magazines (retired) from 2006/2007 which the winning bid was $46. I had realized that, it really takes time to package all those items and going to the post office. Ebay selling had substituted the time, I had available to do scrapbooking and/or blogging. I am looking forward to selling more items.
  • The scheduled car maintenance.
  • Swimming pool classes, basketball, chorus classes.
  • Buying books for next school year. Online of course.
  • The 6th birthday of my son, which we did a pool and pizza party, yesterday saturday. This includes the planning of this activity last week.
Today, I did four loads of laundry, and almost sorted all the clothing. It is 4PM, and I already put everything for school tomorrow morning, including the bag with my son's bathing suit for his swimming school classes at school. This is great, since lately I had been forgetting this bag. Wow!!!, you already be, a little tired, of reading this.

In summary, I expect to have more time available for scrapbooking and blogging this week. I really like the weeks, when there is nothing planned, and I can be at a slower pace. No stress!!!

Well, returning to the scrapbooking theme. I created this layout from my family cruise summer vacations on 2008. This is me, with my two sons at the restaurant lobby on July 21, 2008. We were waiting for our turn to eat dinner. I used a retired page kit from Close to my Heart. The sketch is Sketch #120 from Sketch Inspiration.
Supplies: Patterned Paper & Cardstock: Close to my Heart (CTMH), Flowers: Heidi Swapp, PRIMA and Hero Arts, Marker: ZIG Memory System Millennium 005, Stickers: CTMH, Rhinestone brads: Stampin UP (fire squares)

Hoping, you have a great week too!

The Power of Nature

This week, I created a layout with a photo from our trip to Barranquitas, Puerto Rico on February 2010. The starting point was prompt from Log Your Memory Weekly Challenge #14. Here are some of the prompt questions: Do you have a "green thumb"?, What role does recycling or other ecological practices play in your life?, Are you concerned about the future of the planet?.

Journaling: Every time we visit the densely forested mountains from Puerto Rico, I feel a renewal. I get inspired to meet my citizen responsibilities to protect the earth. I do not feel very proud of starting recycling on 2009. I do not feel that as a citizen, I am doing sufficient to preserve this island beauty. The high consumerism, the low re-use of items does not help, either. I am aware that habit's changes are not easy, and takes time. I really hope, that my children and grandchildren will be able to view this beauty landscape, as of today, and not only on photographs. For them, I feel committed to change my consumer's habits, to meet my citizen's duties.
